Vaughn Stein’s ‘TERMINAL’ (2018) – Movie Review

Terminal, the 2018 thriller noir film, stands out as one of the most underrated  films I’ve encountered recently. Despite its mixed reviews, I believe Terminal  deserves more appreciation for its gripping storyline and impressive performances by a star-studded cast.

Plot

Set in a train terminal during the night, Terminal weaves a tale filled with intrigue and suspense. The story features a diverse ensemble of characters, including two male assassins, a female assassin, a waitress, a teacher, a janitor, and a crime boss, all entangled in a web of revenge. The film stars  actors such as Margot Robbie, Simon Pegg, Max Irons, Dexter Fletcher, and Mike Myers, each bringing depth to their roles.

One of the film’s strengths is its brisk pacing, which keeps the audience engaged from start to finish. I have always been a fan of Margot Robbie, and her performance in Terminal is captivating, and complemented by Simon Pegg’s strong portrayal of his character. Their chemistry adds an extra layer to the narrative. The film’s setting, confined to only a few locations within the terminal, is an interesting choice that could have risked feeling monotonous. However, the filmmakers successfully maintain the viewer’s interest throughout.

Mike Myers delivers an impressive performance that deviates from his usual comedic roles. His character adds a unique flavor to the film, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Similarly, Simon Pegg steps outside his comfort zone, which makes for an engaging viewing experience. I won’t delve into the intricate details of the plot, as I believe that approaching Terminal with minimal prior knowledge enhances its impact.

Visually, Terminal is striking, with its captivating cinematography and artistic use of lighting. The film uses neon hues that create a vibrant yet atmospheric tone, enhancing the narrative rather than overwhelming the viewer.

In conclusion, Terminal is an entertaining and thought-provoking film that I highly recommend. Its compelling story, strong performances, and unique visual style make it worth watching. Don’t miss the chance to experience this hidden gem!
