The Boogeyman (2023)

Stephen King’s ‘THE BOOGEYMAN’ (2023) Official Trailer and Poster Revealed

The Boogeyman is one of my favorite Stephen King short stories. It comes from Night Shift, which is also probably my favorite King short story collection. I was disappointed in the 2005 film (which somehow spawned multiple sequels) and was hopeful that someday the story would get a proper cinematic treatment. Could that someday be now? It certainly looks like a possibility!

THE BOOGEYMAN (2023) Synopsis

High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.

Rob Savage (Host) directed the film from a screenplay by Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place) and Mark Heyman (Black Swan). It’s based on the Stephen King story. The film stars Sophie Thatcher, Chris Messina, Vivian Lyra Blair, Marin Ireland, Madison Hu, LisaGay Hamilton, and David Dastmalchian.

The Boogeyman (2023)

The Boogeyman hits theaters on June 2, 2023. I can’t wait!

This looks great! There’s some real talent assembled here, and I’m hopeful it will be amazing, despite the PG-13 rating. Judging by this trailer, I’d say it has a real chance!
