Halloween 2

Rob Zombie’s ‘HALLOWEEN II’ Celebrates 15th Anniversary

The very name Rob Zombie can trigger people. There’s a line in the sand; sometimes, people cross it. I am a firm believer that I should give anything one try. Some movies stick, and some don’t. I am a personal fan of Zombie’s work. As social media evolves, so do the angry and negative attitudes. Like what you like, even if someone else doesn’t like it. Halloween II had so many great moments; let’s review.

The movie was written and directed by Rob Zombie, and he pulled no punches to present the rest of his vision. They tried to keep the same energy as the first Halloween; the story was told differently with Halloween II. It was darker, with a different energy that still wins the moment. It’s almost a solemn tribute to the lost art of slasher movies on the big screen; I think he revived and motivated a lot of directors to focus on horror in the past few years.

Synopsis

Locked away, Michael Myers is safe and sound, He starts getting visions from his dead mother and his younger self. She leads the way on his spree of killing anyone in his way. Laurie was safe, or was she?. After being haunted by that night, she dreams the whole situation that would have gone wrong, picking up from the first film. Laurie (Scout Taylor Compton) has moved in with her best friend Annie (Danielle Harris) and her sheriff father (Brad Dourif)

After a transport accident, Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) is loose. He has a new chance to brutalize Laurie. He is still on a mission to find his siter. One by one he kills people off. The movie takes a quick turn after they find out Dr. Loomis (Malcom McDowell) is cashing in on the situation and writing book about it. This all leads to secrets, while trying to avoid the monster in the story. Who will make it through the night?

The casting started a lot of controversy. Names like Geroge Romero and Damien Leone also have their little families. I don’t see what the problem is. When I saw the movie, I saw all the heart they put into it. It started to convince me that anyone can do this just for fun. Also, I am not sure how many slashers have to have a story or great acting.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween: We have many more stories that make sense. It showed Michael spiraling into a demon form again. There are so many Easter eggs that pay homage to John Carpenter. After a run-in with a nurse, he just snapped. Something inside was wrong, and Rob Zombie showed a believable story. I find it much more entertaining, making me a heretic because I love the Halloween franchise. But Rob Zombie gave us the gift of showing Michael become his form.

With Halloween II, we see what seclusion does when you have never said a word. The setting was perfect to set the mood. There’s not really anything I thought needed to gripe about it. I see it as perfect. The fact that you can relate to all of the characters, even if they have lost their minds. This movie shows he has no empathy for anyone, and he really is a killing machine.

In the end…

I love Rob Zombie movies, but there has to be a limit to what we say about him. He kept his films. in a grindhouse form, and if you have been watching horror movies at a young age, this was one of the first movies to break through what we are used to in modern times. Have a great time anyway.

If you haven’t seen this movie, get off your duff and watch it! Bask in the darkness of your house, turn out the lights, and enjoy. Rob Zombie makes the movies he imagined with his creativity.

Can he make a movie without his wife? Who knows. I don’t mind it at all, though.

About Craig Lucas

I hail from rural PA where there isn't much to do except fixate on something. Horror was, and still is my fixation. I have 35 years of horror experience under my belt, I love the horror community and it loves me.
