Renegade FilmFest 2022 to Screen World Premiere of ‘MAYA’

The Renegade Film Festival is honored to host the WORLD PREMIERE of K/XI’s (read our interview with her interview HERE) feature film, MAYA. The festival is returning to the historic Strand Theatre on the Marietta Square in Atlanta, March 3-5, 2022. MAYA will be joining the feature film lineup that includes the Blumhouse hit, FREAKY, written by Michael Kennedy and co-written and directed by Christopher Landon. Both films will be highlighted with special Q&A sessions after the screenings. Check out the official trailer down below!

Maya - Bad Wolf Films

Synopsis 

Maya tells the story of a young woman in Pakistan, who rediscovers her traumatic childhood through the grips of jinn (demonic) possession.

The film is based on true events. Writer and director K/XI explains, “Maya focuses on themes including cultural and social issues, religion, mental health and the supernatural.  It also has a strong focus on the representation of women in Pakistan.”
