Synopsis
The brand new collection of demented stories from the twisted mind of Ridley Mortis.
Mortis is an eerie blend of Edgar Allen Poe, E.C. Comics and Edward Gorey, toiling away in dank dungeons, conjuring verses that are equal parts spooky and whimsical. Graveface Publishing
This isn’t just a book—it’s an immersive horror experience, with more than 60 original tales complemented by killer artwork from a murder’s row of talented artists. Here are just a few of the macabre-loving creatives that have spent some of their precious living moments to create works specifically for Poems of Grave Importance.
● Mitch O’Connell, (The World’s Best Artist) who has been published in Time, Rolling Stone, Heavy Metal, The New Yorker, GQ, Playboy, Doctor Strange, and Rue Morgue Magazine.
● IB Trav is renowned for his series Horror Babies, and has worked with Walt Disney Studios, Universal Studios, 20th Century Fox, Horror Hounds, Fangoria and many others.
● Hilary Barta (Surly Hack), who has contributed to Bart Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror, Heavy Metal, Mars Attacks Garbage Pail Kids, the list goes on and on.
● Jenny Richardson of Classy Creeps, is an illustrator focused on feminine horror icons with a stylized twist. Vicious vixens and Halloween hellcats, oh my!
● Von Strange creates delightfully deranged tantalizing horror pin ups; ghoulish gals and their fiendish pals in bright bold colors.
● Doug P’Gosh has been featured in Car Kulture Deluxe, Kustom Magazine (France and UK), and The Art of Horror movies: an Illustrated History
My Thoughts:
This is one of the coolest books I’ve read. It truly is an immersive horror experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. The tales and poems are *chef’s kiss* and really there wasn’t one I didn’t enjoy. The artwork complements this book and is amazing as well. The way I felt reading this, was I was reading a Shel Silverstein (who I absolutely adore) but much more macabre.
Final Thought
