Paranoia Tapes

‘Paranoia Tapes: The Movie’ (2025)- Movie Review

In my opinion, the “found footage” subgenre is the most divisive in the horror genre. There are reasons why. People find them confusing at times to watch. Sometimes you aren’t exactly sure what you are watching. They jump around too much. They are difficult visually at times due to the intentional grainyq uality.

And I agree. There are some found footage films that I am confused as to what I am watching and the reason behind it. The poor quality sometimes hinders the enjoyment of the film. But, if I stumble across a found footage, guaranteed I’m going to watch it.

Recently, I was asked if I’d be interested in watching a found footage, Paranoia Tapes: The Movie. I instantly said yes. What did I think of this film? Read on for my spoiler free review.

Synopsis:

YouTuber Clyde finds ‘Jack Hunter’s PARANOIA TAPES,’ leading to terrifying scenarios tied to the number twelve. With friend Jack, they confront a malevolent force, racing to unravel a dark secret in ‘Paranoia Tapes TWELVE.

The film is written and directed by Jack Hunter II and Corey Descant.

My Thoughts:

While it is the 12th in a series of films, you do not need to watch any previous films to watch Paranoia Tapes: The Movie. I was a little nervous with the opening of the film as it has a lot of static, and I was hoping the whole film wasn’t going to be viewed through the lines of static. Thankfully, it wasn’t. The film is clear, with a perfect blend of necessary effects to make it appear “found footage.” I absolutely enjoyed it from start to finish. The segments blended together, paced well, and held my interest.

Some of the actions will seem predictable, which is intentional because some of the predictability doesn’t prepare you for the end. The twist was fabulous, and I loved it.

The film makes great use of practical effects. The performances are genuine, and the footage itself is realistic. There are a few jump scares but nothing over the top or cringe. It overall has a genuine creep vibe throughout.

Final Thoughts:

This was a fun watch and if you enjoy found footage, I believe you will enjoy this one. This one stood out for me because the quality of it is different. It feels like a cleaner version without taking away the found footage vibe. The story has substance, and I love an ending that surprises me. That doesn’t happen too much in this subgenre.

Be on the lookout for Paranoia Tapes: The Movie premiering exclusively on FOUND TV in the near future.
