Synopsis for His House
After making a harrowing escape from war-torn South Sudan, a young refugee couple struggle to adjust to their new life in a small English town that has an unspeakable evil lurking beneath the surface.
His House was an incredibly powerful film that will haunt you. I’ve never seen anything quite like it and it was one that left me emotionally drained. This heart-wrenching story takes you on a journey about two refugees who desperately want a new beginning but are finding it hard to move on because they are haunted by the pain and memories of their past.
Dìrísù and Wunmi Mosaku both delivered riveting, hearting breaking performances that will you leave feeling uncomfortable and depressed. It’s not an easy story to stomach, but the characters bring to life the real horror refugees go through and why they often flee in hopes for a better tomorrow.
His House was shot beautifully, with rich, detailed imagery and a haunting atmosphere that will send chills down your spine. Some of the scenes, especially the ones where spirits are staring out through the walls, were truly terrifying and left me breathless.
