Interview With Tony Fadil, Star Of Zombie Horror/Comedy, ‘Dead Again’ (2021)

Now available to stream on Amazon via Greenway Entertainment and Relik Films is Steven M. Smith’s latest ode to the zombie horde, Dead Again. We were pleased to continue our coverage of this British indie horror-comedy and had a quick chat with co-star Tony Fadil (read our interview with fellow Dead Again castmate, Elliot Cable here). Veteran entertainer Tony Fadil discusses why he became an actor, enjoying the genre references within Dead Again, and what’s up next for himself.

Synopsis:

In a rural village where crime is nonexistent, a police sergeant (Tony Fadil) is retiring out of boredom. He is sent a young recruit (Elliot Cable) fresh out of police school. All hell is about to break loose in this apocalyptic horror film.

PopHorror: You have been performing for quite some time with an impressive listing of credits. What compelled you to enter the world of acting?

Tony Fadil: I just love finding the realness inside each story, each scene, and finding the relevant questions and answers for each character I am portraying.

PopHorror: PS Cooper sounds like the super cop who just busted the crime of the century. Out of all of the cops in the history of cinema… who do you choose to be your partner and why?

Tony Fadil: Probably Regan from The Sweeny played by John Thaw. We’d solve crimes the simple way just like they did in the 1970s, but in the film world, of course. I realize it’s different in real life. Remember, it’s the escapism I love the best.

Dead Again co-stars Elliot Cable (left) and Tony Fadil (right).

PopHorror: Were you a horror fan prior to filming Dead Again? Were you privy to all the enjoyable name drops and references taken from the genre when you read the script?

Tony Fadil: Absolutely! My favorite being the reference to Jaws. I loved wearing the shark’s head and the other referring to Sigourney Weaver in Alien.

PopHorror: Tony, you have also produced and significantly contributed as an Assistant Director. Is your ultimate goal to eventually sit in the director’s chair for a feature?

Tony Fadil: Yes, indeed! And it’s already starting to happen with one recent production. I’m really enjoying the process, and because I’ve experienced nearly every crew position on a film set, I’m starting to realize directing is understanding and managing everyone’s role in the film.

PopHorror: What’s up next for you, Tony?

Tony Fadil: I’m really looking forward to the film premiere of Web Crawler on Saturday the 3rd July at the Premiere Cinemas in Romford, which will be one of the highlights of the I AM Film Festival, and then on the 5th of July, it will be released online via Indie Film Rocket. Alongside this new streaming platform, myself and Paul J. Lane will be integrating the Film Directors Academy with the longstanding Film Actors Academy in Camden London. The Directors Academy is primarily for beginners and if it’s a career you’ve always wished for, visit our website.

We would like to thank Tony Fadil for his time. You can check out the trailer for Dead Again down below! For press, contact publicist Sharry Flaherty of Samera Entertainment at [email protected].
