Gage Greenwood’s ‘Bunker Dogs’ Comes to Kindle Unlimited

If you’ve read my review of Gage Greenwood’s debut novel, Winter’s Myths, you’ll know how much I loved that book. I was just as impressed with sequel, Winter’s Legacy (review to come). Written as a multi-season serial, the tale of Winter and his children, Violin and Candlestick, captured me from the first page. Forced out of his underground home with no terrestrial survival skills, Winter must keep his children safe from monsters, both the human and the inhuman kind. In the middle of all this, he tells the girls stories about the things they find on their way, explanations that only someone with no working knowledge can dream up. A DVD of Kevin Bacon movies, the Lincoln Memorial, a grumbling bear and even the sun make their way into his tales, and you’ll never guess where Winter takes them.

I had heard about Greenwood’s third book, Bunker Dogs, I was immediately on alert.

Synopsis:

Don’t just fear what you’re hiding from, fear what you’re hiding with.

Cassie’s night of babysitting goes to hell when bombs explode in the distance, planes fly overhead at low altitudes, and alerts on her phone tell her to seek shelter. Luckily, the boy she babysits tells her his father has a bunker in the yard.

When they make their way to this underground shelter, they soon discover they aren’t alone. Something is living in the bunker, lurking in the walls, and it’s hungry.

What started as a normal night of babysitting quickly descends into a psychological and claustrophobic nightmare.

So, Bunker Dogs is not a Winter’s Myths story… but it is intriguing. Being stuck underground, with tons of dark, heavy earth above my head, and something alive and dangerous in the room with me… I’m uncomfortable already. It’s not like you can jump out a window to escape. Plus, she’s babysitting, so there’s a kid involved. Kids are not exactly known for their swift horror survival skills. Oh yeah, and then there’s the fact that there’s a freaking nuclear war going on aboveground! So even if you did find a window to jump out of, you’re just dumping yourself into a pit of radioactive, atomic ash. Okay, I’m officially on the edge of a panic attack, and I’m not even the character in this book.

As luck would have it, Bunker Dogs is now available through Amazon, both as a trade paperback and on Kindle Unlimited, starting today. You can also pick up book bundles, stickers and other merch from his author site, GageGreenwood.com. I’ve just ordered myself a copy, to the surprise of no one. So keep your eyes peeled for my upcoming review.
