It has been ten years to the day since we have had a theatrical release of a Friday the 13th film grace our screens. So today, we are going to be celebrating Marcus Nispel’s 2009 remake of Friday the 13th! In honor of the film, I am going to provide some of my favorite kills and quotes. And what retro review would be complete without some fun facts? So let’s get this party started and slash our way to some epic kills to this unappreciated entry into this series!

Friday the 13th (2009) was originally supposed to be an origin story. However, it quickly evolved into a reimagining of the first four Friday the 13th films.

This is the 2nd highest grossing Friday film.
Fun Fact #3:
Similar to Friday the 13th III, Jason transitions from wearing a bag over his head to wearing his infamous hockey mask.
Fun Fact #4:
Prior to even being cast as our beloved Jason, Derek Mears had already started physical training for the part.
Fun Fact #5:
Chelsea’s (Will Ford) death was originally supposed to be being stranded in the middle of the lake for hours after seeing Jason. She was supposed to have tired out and drowned, but the writers thought that a more quick death would fit into this iconic slasher.
