After years of rumors, teases, and high demands from fans, it has been confirmed that Hocus Pocus 2 is officially happening, and not only that but the three original stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy, are returning as the Sanderson Sisters! Anne Fletcher (Solar Opposites, Workaholics) will be directing the film and Jen D’Angelo (Workaholics, Young Rock) will be writing the film. As a 90s kid, this is the best news ever!!! Wake up sleepyheads, it’s finally TIME!
The original Hocus Pocus was directed by Kenny Ortega and released in 1993. It centered around some kids who accidentally free a coven of evil witches. With the help of a magical cat, they must save the town of Salem before sunrise! It didn’t do horribly at the box office, but not great either, and had very mixed reviews. However, over the years, it’s turned into a cult classic and something that fans celebrate in a big way every Halloween.

A few years back, I read A. W. Jantha’s Hocus Pocus & The All-New Sequel and I absolutely loved everything about it. I have no clue if this new film will follow the sequel but I truly hope so. It felt so natural and I loved reminiscing with old characters while meeting new ones as well. I’m a die-hard fan and this is a dream come true!
Hocus Pocus will be released on Disney+ in the fall of 2022! It seems so far away but we’ve waited this long, we can survive another year or so. Are you excited about Hocus Pocus 2? Do you watch the original every year? Did you read the book? Let us know and stay tuned for more news and updates!
