It’s an honor to have the one and only Moses Moseley back for an interview. Moses is making his way through the horror genre, taking names and kicking ass, from The Walking Dead to Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories, and now his most recent film, Descending. Read on and find out all his recent projects, his newest character, and more.
PH – Hi, Moses. It’s awesome to have you talk with PopHorror again! How have you been?
Moses Moseley – Hi Tori, thanks for having me! It’s good to be back. I’ve been great just trying to stay busy and trying to keep track of what state or country I’m headed to next. (laughs)
PH – (laughs) I can only imagine what that’s like! Before we dig into some of your recent films, let’s talk about your experience on The Walking Dead TV series as well as The Original TV series. What was it like to work on those shows? Were there any fun off-screen moments?
Moses Moseley – Working on both of those series was truly an amazing opportunity. The Walking Dead, I have to say, was not only exciting but life changing as well because it led to other opportunities for me career wise and I learned so much from working on set. It also gave me the exposure I needed to help me get my career jump started. Working on The Originals was also amazing because I met a lot of great people and I learned a lot about the film making process. The funniest off set thing that transpired for me on the set of The Walking Dead was watching the other actors and crew react to the makeup I had on. Some of the actors would take selfies and others would just try not to look because it looked so gross. (Laughs)
PH – That’s awesome! You’ve done a lot of films lately. Can you tell us about a few of those, including Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories?
Moses Moseley – I’ve been having a lot of fun filming different projects. I’ve shot four commercials in the past year for Publix, Enmarket, Comcast and Suntrust Bank. I recently found out the Enmarket commercial I shot won an Emmy and I’m very proud to have been part of it. In between those shoots, I filmed three indie movies including Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories, which has been getting a lot of amazing reviews and will be released on DVD, Blue-ray and VOD on August 1, 2017. I had a lot of fun working on it in Owensboro, Kentucky, and I met a lot of amazing people I hope to work with again.
The next film I worked on was called Kudzu Zombies which is premiering in theaters in different states in the U.S. I filmed this in Canton, Mississippi, and I had a phenomenal time working on it. I worked with some of the best people and actors I had ever met and I consider a lot of them like family now. Some of the main actors and myself actually have a group text where we all communicate still and talk about getting a house together.
PH – That’s so great to hear! Your upcoming film is called Descending. Please tell us about the film.
Moses Moseley – I worked on Descending in Ohio last year. That was definitely a lot of fun and one of the easiest acting jobs I’ve ever had because the character Tyson I portrayed was so much like me (laughs). Descending is a horror film that focuses on vampires and a rag tag group of hunters that are trying to exterminate all of them.
PH – I love vampires! How’d the casting process come about?
Moses Moseley – The casting process was really easy for me. The writer, Chad Zuver, and I actually had a mutual friend, Brian Jones, who referred me to Chad. Chad then contacted me and sent me the script and asked if I was interested in the part of Tyson. After I read it, I was completely sold and eager to be part of the film.
PH – Gotta love connections! You mentioned you play the role of Tyson. What is your character like?
Moses Moseley – Tyson is a lot like me. He’s more or less the comedic relief of the film. He’s a wannabe vampire hunter that clearly has no idea what he’s doing but deep down, he means well.
PH – So you definitely can relate to him on several levels then?
Moses Moseley – I can definitely relate to Tyson. How he handles the idea of fighting vampires is exactly how I would in real life (laughs).
PH – (laughs). There’s a lot of awesome star power in this film. What was it like to work with such a great group of people?
Moses Moseley – It was amazing working with many talented and down to earth people. I’d hope to work with them again.
PH – I bet they feel the same way. Do you know when the film is planning on releasing?
Moses Moseley – I’m not sure when the film is set to be released.
PH – Fingers crossed that it’s soon! Any other upcoming projects you’d like to talk about?
Moses Moseley – I recently worked on a new TV show that will be premiering soon but I can’t talk about it just yet. As soon as I can, I’ll be sure to let you all know. I’m also currently working on a new film called Running with Wolves that I can’t talk about either right now but it’s currently in production. I’ll be sure to keep you all posted.
Thank you so much for having me again and I hope to be back soon!
