PopHorror Let's Get Scared
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is a movie that will always be in my heart. I still watch this film at least 20-30 times a year. It heals me, one big campy tale of an iconic killer with some humor and new characters. It’s more of a story with carnival tricks and putting cannibalism into true light.
Let’s get into the review.
Synopsis
A radio host is victimized by the cannibal family as a former Texas marshall hunts the family for victims.
The first Texas Chainsaw Massacre film, terrified me; by the time the sequel dropped, I became a fan. The first film depends on being completely bonkers, with visuals that made you uncomfortable. It wasn’t the same as what I was used to. The sequel, however, is laid out so much better; it had a story behind running out of gas and a steel door. Instead of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
A Legend That Stays Alive
The film keeps you at bay because it’s more accepted cult-wise than the heavy hitters we have seen in the late 70’s. And early 80’s. Texas Chainsaw 2 came at a perfect time for movies to make you feel for Leatherface. He has feelings and can fall in love, making him simply stand out amongst others; there was no curse over summer camps or an entity that only shows up once a year. Leatherface just loves to have a different mask to hide his ugliness; or so you think.
The other, who is a new family member, was Chop Top, who, wow, you would not love him as a character. Also, the blood doesn’t show through the movie, but a really cool way to shut up annoying frat boys. I think that was the best part of watching some jock getting what he deserves, just for being a pain in the butt. Stretch (Caroline Williams) played a great final girl from the beginning to the end of the film; let’s just admit that Stretch is a total badass.
Also, Lefty (Denis Hopper) played his part so well. Lefty will stop at nothing to catch the family that killed a family member, and he’s pissed. There were some great scenes of how much the family expanded into a carnival ride, as the father is waiting. hoping to get some meat for his award-winning chili. That also makes the film absolutely hilarious when he goes off the rails.
In The End
In the end, this is one of my favorite movies of all time, and you really have to impress me, because films like this raised me and gave me a safe place away from my family. I will not forget those dorky days, the days when everyone treated me like crap because of my love for horror, and this film is an absolute slap in the face to them.
Personally, I say get rid of A24 and bring back a slasher besides basic things like Ghostface or Michael Myers meeting a wood chipper that makes it absolutely absurd to end an icon; However the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series is always a winner no matter what people others think.
I still have as much love as I already did almost 40 years ago.
