The screams are coming back to Irving.
This Memorial Day weekend, horror fans from across the country will descend upon the Irving Convention Center for the return of the one and only Texas Frightmare Weekend. This year it celebrates its 20th anniversary as the Southwest’s premier horror convention. Running May 22–24, the annual gathering has become a pilgrimage for genre lovers: it’s part convention, part reunion, part horror summer camp. What’s not to love?
The event this year promises another packed weekend of celebrity appearances, autograph sessions, professional photo ops, film screenings, panels, and late-night programming. Guests announced for 2026 include horror heavyweights from franchises like Saw, Scream, Terrifier, Halloween III, Leprechaun, and IT: Welcome to Derry, which truly makes this event feel less like a convention and more like a horror hall of fame. The old-timers and the newbies have all come to play!

For returning attendees, Frightmare has become ritual; a yearly reunion marked by packed lobbies and carefully planned schedules built around dream meetups. For first-timers (like yours truly), it’s a crash course in horror fandom at full volume. Even navigating the weekend has become part of the culture, with the event’s app and virtual line system helping fans chart their survival strategy.
Twenty years in, Texas Frightmare Weekend continues to prove that horror fandom is alive, loud, and thriving.
The monsters return May 22–24, 2026, at the Irving Convention Center.
And if history is any indication, nobody leaves empty-handed—or unscarred.
