As far back as I can remember, I have always loved horror movies. To me, being in the horror business was better than being President of the United States. Even before I stepped into a video store for an after-school movie, I knew I wanted to be part of it.
Andy Palmer (Funhouse Massacre 2015) sent out to make a movie starring Carlos Alazraqui (Reno 911 TV series), Tara Strong (Batman: The Animated Series TV series), Maurice LaMarche (Futurama TV series), and Jill-Michele Melean (Mad TV TV series). One would think they’re set for a comedy film that will promise what it delivers. Well, you would be half right. Yes, it’s a comedy, but it’s also a horror movie. The film I’m referring to is Witness Infection.
Synopsis for Witness Infection
Sometimes the past comes back to bite you. Two rival mob families are transferred from the Witness Protection Agency by mistake to the same city, Temecula, CA.
Witness Infection was co-written by Alazraqui and Melean, and I have to say the duo wrote a great script that Andy Palmer was able to bring to life. It plays out with fun gags that don’t feel forced or even too silly. With an abundant amount of people who can do comedy, they go above and beyond and bring forth interesting characters. For the hardcore fans, we know their names and know their strengths. But for people who may not know the faces behind the voices, they will be offered a great treat. This works for everyone! While watching the movie, I laughed out loud. I was excited to see my heroes together fighting the living dead, and I could tell they had a great time playing these characters. As for jokes, the movie has a great story that kept my interest.
There is gore. It’s not over the top but still enough to satisfy the fans. Witness Infection has a feel of Goodfellas meets Shaun of the Dead. The finale feels different… yes, there is a zombie showdown, but the film doesn’t focus on it like so many other horror movies. There is a fight, but we also see the characters confront themselves, question their lives, and have resolutions. Everything is wrapped up in the end and doesn’t feel forced. This is great because some horror movies can rely on gore and a quick joke and end it. Witness Infection is a fun horror movie that shows that voice actors have a big presence onscreen to deliver great horror-comedy. It will be available on March 30 via a number of digital and cable platforms!
