Small Town Monsters Kicks Off Spooky Season With ‘WEREWOLVES UNEARTHED’

Brought to you by 1091 and Small Town Monsters, Werewolves Unearthed sets out to investigate a rash of werewolf and Dogman sightings in the Ohio Valley. The crew sets out to interview witnesses and investigate some of the locations of the sightings in an attempt to make sense of what’s happening in the area.

Could Dogman really be roaming the Ohio Valley?

On The Trail

Werewolves Unearthed takes us to the Shenango Valley to investigate claims that strange dog or wolf-like creatures have been spotted roaming the area. This latest documentary from Small Town Monsters combines both werewolf and Dogman claims and tries to draw some conclusions on why they may have both been seen in the area.

In true Small Town Monsters fashion, the film isn’t focused as much on the crew searching for the alleged activity themselves with equipment as you’d see on the Discovery Channel. Instead, while they do conduct a few investigations themselves, it’s more focused on the perspective of the locals. It’s an opportunity for the witnesses to speak, without being overshadowed by the opinions and theories of the crew themselves.

While I won’t get into the investigations too much to avoid spoilers on whether they find anything, the interviews themselves are a mixed bag. Some of them are highly detailed, and if you have an ounce of belief in the subject matter, one particular interview will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Others, however, range from lacking detail to being on the far-fetched side of things. To me though, this just speaks to the documentary being genuine. Not every interview is going to realistically be amazing, it doesn’t feel like anything is ever staged or faked, it’s just up to whether or not the audience believes each witness or not.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, Small Town Monsters has stuck to its formula in Werewolves Unearthed, which is to cut out the drama and get straight to the point. Could some of the witnesses be less than honest? Certainly, but it’s not like the overabundance of reality shows that are hunting the paranormal on TV. The crew has no stake in it, they are just there so the witnesses have a chance to tell their stories. If you’re into the subject matter, this is a solid addition to any enthusiast’s library. If you’re looking for people looking off camera and asking “What’s that?” before loud music kicks in and whatever it was vanishes before the camera turns, you won’t find that here.

Werewolves Unearthed is available to rent and own now on Amazon Prime Video and other digital services.
