Happily

Movie Review: ‘Happily’ (2021) The Perfect Killer Romantic Comedy

If you’re looking for a new film to watch, the new killer romantic comedy from producer Jack Black, Happily, was outstanding, unique, and refreshing. This film was written and directed by BenDavid Grabinski. It stars Joel McHale, Kerry Bishé, Stephen Root, Paul Scheer, Breckin Meyer, Natalie Zea, and Natalie Morales.

Synopsis for Happily

A happily married couple (Joel McHale and Kerry Bishé) discover their friends are resentful of their lustful relationship. When a visit from a mysterious stranger leads to a dead body, they begin to question the loyalty of their so-called friends.

If you love dark comdies, you will love Happily. It’s such a unique and fun story, unlike anything I’ve seen before. I love the idea of a couple having the “perfect” relationship and not even realizing it but everyone around them resents them for it. But why, though? Usually it’s because they have their own skeletons in their closet that they’re not ready to face but this movie brings them all out to play.

Happily

Every single performance was phenomenal. Joel McHale and Kerry Bishé are flawlessly perfect and have one of the best on-screen chemistries I’ve ever seen. They just mesh well and you can feel the love the characters have for each other even after their relationship is forcefully pushed to its limit and everything they’ve ever know or felt was challenged. Everyone else was great too. Each character brought a special quirkiness and fucked up storyline/dark secret to this mysterious and entertaining comedy.

Happily

Happily isn’t a bloody film by any means but its suspense and mystery will keep you at the edge of your seat. Some outcomes are expected and you’re just waiting for them to get revealed. Meanwhile, others totally surprised me. Either way, you’ll be rooting for Joel and Kerry’s characters from beginning to end.

Final Thoughts

I adored this film and loved how everything played out. Happily hits Theaters, On Digital, and On Demand beginning March 19th, 2021. Be sure to check it out!
