Let’s Discuss Tyler Labine’s ‘Tucker and Dale VS Evil’ Sequel Interview

Tucker and Dale VS Evil is a backwoods horror comedy that became an instant classic that was released back in 2010. Since then, fans have been clamoring for a sequel, and we just heard that there’s finally an update. Recently, Tyler Labine, who played Dale in the filmcommented in an interview with Daily Dead on the possibility of a follow up. This is what he said:

“Yes. We’re working on something right now. I wouldn’t call it a film sequel, but the story is not done being told. I can’t really tell you much, but we’re in development with a couple of things right now. Things are looking pretty good. Alan [Tudyk] and I are both still on board, along with Eli [Craig, director/co-writer]. We’re just trying to line up a few pieces. It’s just a matter of timing. We’re going to get something to the fans because that’s really the only reason we want to do it. No one’s getting rich off this thing. [laughs] Alan and I have always been like, ‘Whatever we do has to be for the people that stuck with it and made it what it is.’ That’s all the fans. Hopefully, something will come to fruition.”

To me, this whole thing boils down to one little snippet: “I wouldn’t call it a film sequel.”

This could mean that the new film will be something like the Carnetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and At World’s End). This seems likely if it’s not going to be continuation of the original story.

Another thing I want to mention: he didn’t say it won’t be a sequel, he said it won’t be a film sequel. With the stars and writer/director being on board, that pretty much rules out a graphic novel sequel, so my next thought was animation, but that didn’t exactly excite me.

Awhile later, it hit me. I think it might be a TV series. Neither Alan nor Tyler are strangers to the small screen. In fact, Alan is currently playing the lead villain on Doom Patrol, and will be voicing the Joker on the upcoming animated Harley Quinn series.

Which would you prefer, a spiritual sequel similar to The Carnetto Trilogy, animation, or a series? Let us know in the comments!
