Interview with Actor Zach Rose, Star of ‘S.O.S. Survive or Sacrifice’

I recently had the opportunity to chat with Zach Rose, one of the stars for the new action thriller, S.O.S. Survive or Sacrifice. This was a wonderful film with non-stop suspense. Learn about Zach’s career, his character in the film, upcoming projects, and more!

Synopsis

When Kate and her 13-year old little sister Liz are reunited on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, Kate meets Myrianthy and a group of locals whom she agrees to an exciting ride in a hot air balloon with. The joyride takes a dangerous turn when it becomes untethered, and the passengers ascend without a pilot. Their cell phones out of range, and the balloon running out of gas, Kate and Myrianthy begin a desperate fight for their lives as the balloon is pushed out over the open ocean. Back on land, Liz has become an unwanted “material witness” to a robbery committed by Jack, who happens to be Myrianthy’s boyfriend. Matters take a dramatic twist, one that will mark their lives forever. While Liz may be their only hope of rescue, can she get to them in time?

PopHorror – Hey Zach. It’s great to talk with you. How did you get involved with acting?

Zach Rose – Likewise, my first acting experience was in 5th grade. I wrote, directed, casted and of course gave myself one of the lead roles in the play. It was during the OJ Simpson Trial and I wrote my own version of the events. I played Robert Shapiro and cross examined a close, but jealous friend of OJ’s forcing him to confess to the crimes.

PopHorror – That’s amazing! What was your first role?

Zach Rose – My first role was in a film called High Schoolers Guide to College Parties. He was the type of character the audience loathes, he is a mixture of Biff from Back to the Future and a Frat guy from Animal House, at least that was the goal. He needed to be the guy you just want to punch in the face. It’s a comedy.

PopHorror – That sounds like so much fun! You’ve done a variety of TV series and movies. Do you prefer one over the other?

Zach Rose – Can’t say I prefer one over the other, I love being on set and being a part of the ultimate team sport, which is telling stories.

PopHorror – Your new film is called S.O.S. Survive or Sacrifice. How did that role come about for you?

Zach Rose – Loris Curci, one of the producers mentioned the opportunity to me. We had worked on two films prior and I of course loved the idea of filming in Cyprus.

PopHorror – Awesome! Can you tell us about the film?

Zach Rose – Sure, for me, it’s about how quickly things can go wrong, and offers up a unique setting for conflict.

PopHorror – Very spot on, lol. Can you tell us about your character?

Zach Rose – My character, Andreas, is motivated by all the wrong things, he creates a false persona to appear more successful. He is driven by money, women, and self preservation, however underneath it, he is just lost trying to find himself.

PopHorror – Could you relate to your character at all?

Zach Rose – Unlike the character, I’m a family man, my life is focused on serving them. But I wanted to find something redeemable, endearing, relatable in him that I could connect with, in that, it was his vulnerability, he doesnt have his life together, he is still searching, wants to be better, more and I think we can all share that sentiment in one way or the other.

PopHorror – This is true. Any favorite scenes or memorable moments in the film?

Zach Rose – Hard to narrow down a favorite moment. For me, it was spending the time in between scenes with the cast and crew, while we shared the sound of the Mediterranean waves.

PopHorror – Sounds lovely. Are there any types of roles or movies that you haven’t done yet that you would like to do?

Zach Rose – Of course. James Bond, Batman, and I love westerns. A horse, a gun, never gets old.

PopHorror – I agree! Any upcoming projects you’d like to talk about?

Zach Rose – After I wrapped on S.O.S., I left Cyprus for New Mexico to work on Zack Snyder’s new movie Army of the Dead, as well as, 12 Mighty Orphans, starring Luke Wilson, Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen, directed by Ty Roberts.

PopHorror – Thank you again, Zach, for talking with me and I look forward to all your future projects! S.O.S Survive or Sacrifice released across all major VOD services in North America on October 27, 2020, including iTunes, Vudu, Google Play, Xbox, Amazon, and FandangoNow, as well as cable affiliates everywhere. DVD will be available online through all major retailers on November 17th, 2020.
