‘Hooker Assassin’ (2017) Deliciously Revengeful

I love revenge films. They’re empowering, exciting, and often heartwrenching. There’s something wickedly special about watching someone seek revenge on those who have tormented them. In the new horror short Hooker Assassin, the main character makes revenge a work of art.

The short is directed by the lovely Misty Dawn as well as co-written by herself and Hanna Campbell. The cast includes Courtney Palm as Jessi, Daniel Hampel as The John, and Jordan Brown as Megz.

Hooker Assassin

Official Synopsis for Hooker Assassin:

They say a mother will go to hell and back for their child, but Jessi’s already there. How much further is she willing to go, to ensure the safety of her daughter?

I watched this short a few months back and after revisiting again, I love it even more. Misty Dawn is a kickass director and knows how to deliver a horrifying story with a wickedly delicious revenge in just a brief amount of time. Everything about Hooker Assassin is pure gold and raises the bar for other horror shorts to live up to.

The performances in the short are one of the things that make the story stand out. Courtney Palm is an amazing female lead who is strong, empowering, and ruthless. I loved her character and her performance was solid from beginning to end. Daniel Hampel’s character is exceptionally awesome. He’s the perfect bad guy with a slightly demented sarcastic side. Some of his performance was a bit over the top, but in the end, it suited the situation perfectly.

The special effects were amazing. Sometimes blood and wounds look unrealistic but the FX were great. Nothing extreme, just the right amount.

Lastly, the ending was one of my favorite parts. Courtney Palm takes revenge on her attacker in the most epic way and proves she’ll do anything to get her daughter back.

Final Thoughts:

Hooker Assassin is a wicked horror story that I think everyone will enjoy. Misty Dawn has great vision, knows horror from the inside out, and I can’t wait to see what she does next!
