In today’s age where creating internet content is a job, nothing is more important that going viral. But is it worth dying for? That’s the question that director Sylvia Caminer (An Affair of the Heart) explores in her new film Follow Her.
Follow Her Synopsis
An aspiring actress responds to a mysterious classified ad and finds herself trapped in her new boss’s twisted revenge fantasy.
Jess (a spirited Dani Barker – Nothing’s Original) is a struggling actress who makes ends meet by secretly live streaming the interactions she has with men fulfilling their kinks. She always hides her identity, and blurs out the faces of the men. But in her most recent video the face of the man is exposed for few minutes. Normally she would delete it, but it’s so close to the top ten that she leaves it…I mean, what could it hurt, right? She may find out when her next client, Tom Brady (a wicked Luke Cook – Eye Without a Face) locks her in his house, and plays an everchanging game of cat and mouse.
My favorite thing about this movie was the constantly changing tone. I never could guess where the film was going. Was it a straight horror film, a comedy? In the end it was a something better: a satire on the endless quest to feel relevant in today’s world. As a side note, it features the scariest mask I’ve seen in a while!
