In this twisted, revenge-fueled flick, distributed by Breaking Glass Pictures, Mary Jane, a ‘hot cougar’ as one young man describes her, has her heart broken by the guy she loves when she becomes wise to the fact that he is cheating. Naturally, Mary Jane seeks revenge on not just him, but any man who has wronged her in the past. A bloody death trail of ex-boyfriends begins to follow Mary Jane wherever she goes, and it is fun, scary, and surprising all at once.
Directed and written by Joseph Herrera (Dark Distortion 2026) Don’t F With Mary Jane has been marketed as a ‘darkly comedic psychological thriller’ but I found it darker than comedy, in a good way. Don’t F With Mary Jane is a unique blend of light and dark, as in, the killings are treated pretty lightly by Mary Jane. The viewer bears a delighted witness to Mary Janes downward spiral into obsession and madness, all the while we feel a curious dichotomy of sadness and fear of her. Ok, we also root for her at times; remember, it’s just a movie!

Starring Swisyzinna (Death Ph.D 2024) as Mary Jane, I found her to be perfect for the role as she easily embodied loving, light-hearted, and vulnerable, as well as dangerous and unhinged. Joe Walker (Dark Distortion 2026) plays Jake, an ex-boyfriend who fell for the wrong woman. Erica Muse (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Shark 2025) as Kim, Rafael Gantley (Free Dead or Alive 2022) as Johnny, Trey Seward (Rage: Kill or Be Killed 2026) as Devonte, Porsha Bunch Hall (Something Old 2026) as Nia, Mitchell Maggard (Dark Distortion 2026), and others do well creating a believable, chaotic, and sinister atmosphere and movie. In Don’t F With Mary Jane, no one is really innocent, no one is really bad, but they all play some sort of role in Mary Jane’s inevitable downward spiral and killing spree.
