BUFF 2018: ‘The Consequence’ – Short Film Review

Twisted Films and Director Chrzu Lindstromo submitted a sequel, The Consequenceto the Boston Underground Film Festival. Following the great success of her first film, The Contract (2015), actress Carlotta Moore is experiencing the many stresses fame has to offer. She finds herself trying to escape the madness that lingers throughout Hollywood.

This short film narrates unadulterated honesty and highlights many issues that plaster tabloid covers. It is raw and packs a huge punch with its not-so-politically correct script.

As a viewer, I associated a few connections about religious influences being translated to hate. Chrzu boldly addresses racism and sexism with strategic imagery and choice words. There was plenty use of figurative characters to represent the many struggles members of society are faced with if they do not fit snuggly in social norms.

The Consequence is a powerful representation of staying true to yourself and never allowing anything to take away what you’ve accomplished.

Final thoughts on The Consequence:

This sequel to The Contract has shocked many and I can see why. Not many are brave enough to showcase the truth, let alone be the face for viewers to see the harsh realities play out. This film made me feel uncomfortable for all the right reasons. No, it’s not your typical horror/slasher film. But that doesn’t take away from its haunting ability to leave a lasting impression. I appreciate what Chrzu Lindstomo has brought to our attention. I am definitely eager to see what part three has in store for us.
