After a tragedy, sometimes paranoia sets in. People will often see and hear things that aren’t there. But what if they weren’t really going crazy? What if it was real? All this and more happens in the new horror film Safe Inside.
From Tempe Entertainment, Safe Inside is directed and written by Jason Paul Collum with a cast starring Christopher D. Harder, Brinke Stevens, Judith O’Dea, Darcey Vanderhoef, Tina Ona Paukstelis, and more.
Official Synopsis:
One hot summer night, JJ Tyler (Harder) thinks he’s spending the night alone in his suicidal mother’s home. He’s wrong.
From the very beginning of Safe Inside, there was something about this film that gave me the chills. The dreadful tone reached out and grabbed me; consuming me. I rarely find myself scared over a horror film, but this one had me at the edge of my seat with my heart pounding. Perhaps it’s because I know what it’s like to fight the demons inside my head and it made it all too real. But either way, the story succeeded at messing with me.
For the most part, the acting was average, however, two people stood out. Christopher D. Harder performance was disturbing and heartbreaking and I felt like I could relate to him on certain levels, mostly the mental exhaustion part. Along with him, I absolutely adored Brinke Stevens character. She was sweet, kind, and supportive despite her friend’s insanity. I love seeing her act again and can’t wait to see her do more.
The end was a bit surprising, but in the end made the most sense. Either way, I still enjoyed the rollercoaster of emotions that led to that point. Kudos to the director for not only throwing for a loop but for sending chills down my spine.
