Stephen King presents us with those dreams that just stick with you forever. So many titles have been made into movies, and that’s how you know you are a kick ass author. For me, Thinner is by far the most disturbing Stephen King novel that was made into a film. The entire film is nightmare fuel for me.
Let’s get into the review, where I can explain my fears.
Synopsis
A man enjoying a special date night hits a gyspy woman and her hysband takes the reigns and cyurses the man forever, to lose wight, and eventuanlly his life. The man then searches for ways to end the curse that was taken over his life.
The Rundown
Thinner definitely scared the crap out of me. Being of Roma descent, I can tell you that the days of caravans are gone, along with the mysterious “Fair.” The entire set is completely perfect, bringing the dark to a cloudy haze. This is what I love the most about Rural Pennsylvania; we can be free here. No one knows how much work went into this film. It was true love from the start; however, the light brightens the mood before setting you down for depression again.

The scariest part of the film is being superstitious with the way I was raised. I was constantly being woken up by my mom fighting off some invisible killer; she once told me the Grim Reaper was there to take my grandmother. Thinner is kind of my flashback into better memories. Because of this irrational fear, I run when I turn off the basement light, before some cursed monster bangs at my door. From the legends I heard about, I fully believed this curse was real, despite the hundred times my mom told me it was just a dream.
You. Are. CURSED!
Thinner is a film that instantly became a cult classic, sitting with the rest of the film adaptations. I cant lie, I was beyond excited to be able to share a love for horror with my mom. Watching this film today makes me laugh at some parts instead of pulling all the punches and leaving a little light through the black curtains. It really was a unique film spots, it worked so well. What would you do if you were cursed? I would end up eating myself a life just to get out of the situation, knowing you messed up and took a life.
In The End
In the end, Thinner remains a bit creepy, but that’s how horror is supposed to be; nothing has to be too serious or a basic college project. Pushing the idea of jump scares. Give me brutality on the level Terrifier is. I have to admit, I would choose Art the Clown much more than a Gypsy curse. He would just shoot the victim as he likes to do. I learned that sexual acts in a car are a major distraction. And I choose not to do such things. I can’t say I was never met with this golden moment, but park your damn car somewhere.
