Nail Bite’s ‘NOSTALGIA’ (2024) – Album Review

Nail Bite is a little newer to me. I will gladly admit that I wasn’t paying attention because this group just fell under my radar. However, being recently reminded, I gave them a shot, and I was blown away. Nail Bite isn’t your typical metal band. They push through many genres, from poppy with growls to a little hip hop and a heavy metal hammer that busts your brain wide open. There’s nothing not to like about Nail Bite .

Nail Bite consists of two families that formed a bond. In 2020 after the world locked down, his mixed martial arts career was put on hold. The band formed with members Jon on bass and Johnnie on guitar (father and son). Then came members Lonna on vocals and Caiden on Keyboard (brother and sister). This creates a wholesome view of a band that is going to shock your soul, each time in a different way, They have done the same on their new album, Nostalgia which is currently on Bandcamp until January 17th when the album will officially drop. I had the chance to check out their new album, and I suggest everyone give them a try.

Nostalgia, 2025

The Story and Style

What I found the most amazing is that this band can flip in different directions, but they do it so smoothly that you don’t even notice the transition. From the first track Nostalgia throughout the album is nonstop, something you could definitely add to your collection. Nail Bite is taking the scene by storm with 16 recognitions and awards.

Nail Bite also brings the heat progressively further with their new album, testing the waters of how they can be different on their next albums. This band has worked on their chops, they are almost terrifying just in rage alone. Nail Bite is based in Lancaster PA and is freaking out the townspeople who don’t accept their style and precision. In their hometown, the only thing worth the drive is to head to Shady Maple Buffet, I could not imagine living in a town like Lancaster, I would be shunned and asked to leave immediately, that also makes this band and their sound so interesting.

The Album

Nostalgia really does take you back to the days of real metalcore without the drama between bands. Nail Bite doesn’t have the time for this because they are moving so fast into what every band wants. Nail Bite has played at some pretty crazy festivals such as Blue Ridge Rock Fest and Backwoods Metal Fest. They have also achieved a dream such as sharing the stage with Slipknot and Korn, as if the late nineties have come swinging back.

The band’s precision in Nostalgia is so pure, you can feel the hard work put into it. They are like a light switch, you could hear songs about Spongebob Square Pants with a fun keyboard slowly, and then all of a sudden, they hit you once again with the metal hammer. You never know what will happen at one of their shows, the guttural roar of Lonna will always keep me coming back with her vocals,
