Award-winning filmmaker Nicholas Gyeney has unveiled the theatrical and on demand release dates for the much-anticipated supernatural thriller The Activated Man.
The Activated Man will have an exclusive premiere at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills on Friday, December 13th, and will have a weeklong theatrical run in Los Angeles, as well as in Tempe, AZ, Huntingdon, PA, and other cities across the country.
NY-based Stonecutter Media will distribute the film in North America on cable (Xfinity/Spectrum/Cox Cable/Dish Network/Sling TV/DirecTV/Uverse/Verizon Fios/Optimum) and digital (Amazon Prime/Vudu/iTunes/Google Play/Microsoft) on demand beginning December 13th.
The film, highly-anticipated by fans of the horror genre, boasts a star-studded cast that includes genre icons Tony Todd (Candyman), Sean Young (Blade Runner), and four-time Jason Voorhees, Kane Hodder, alongside Andrew Keegan (10 Things I Hate About You), Vladimir Kulich (Vikings), Sab Shimono (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III), Ivana Rojas (Hulu’s This Fool), and longtime Gyeney collaborator Scott Brown as the villainous ‘Fedora Man.’
Synopsis for The Activated Man:
After Ors Gabriel loses his beloved dog to cancer, the shock from the trauma produces strange vision projections that force Ors to wrestle with two possibilities: That his mind has fractured, or that it’s actually real.
Also; after having read our staff memorial of the late and great Tony Todd, the film’s director was wonderfully kind enough to share his own:
Tony’s last messages to me were of congratulations for our upcoming release, and gratitude for giving him a role that really allowed him to shine. I’ll forever be humbled and honored that he held our film in such high regard, and I’ll be forever grateful for his friendship and his incredible performance. Tony was hoping to be well enough to attend our release premiere in Los Angeles on December 12th, to finally see the movie in full with a big crowd on the eve of its theatrical release. So, as the weeks brought us closer, every day I hoped for Tony to be with us and strong enough to get to experience the film how he wanted to. Well, I don’t know the rules on watching movies in the afterlife. Maybe he can sneak over for a couple hours to check it out with us. Just in case, I’ll be leaving a seat open with RESERVED FOR TONY TODD across it in big letters. Maybe he’ll be with us, and finally get to see The Activated Man in a packed theater filled with his adoring colleagues, friends, and fans.
If you’re curious about the film, our writer Kenn also wrote up a review of the film during its premiere at the Dances with Films Festival, which can be viewed here.
