PopHorror Let's Get Scared
Truth be told, over the years, I have become a massive fan of true crime. Whether it’s books, TV series/documentaries, or films. Lately I have been trying to get more into podcasts as well. Let me be clear, I’m NOT a fan of the crimes themselves, I am, for lack of a better word, fascinated by these events as they are truly horrifying.
Recently I had the opportunity to view a Peacock original docuseries, World’s Most Notorious Killers. Read on to find out more about my thoughts on this riveting new series.
What is World’s Most Notorious Killers about?
The series follows five internationally well-known murder cases in Australia, Austria, Belgium, England, and Southeast Asia. With firsthand accounts from individuals involved, including family members, former detectives, forensic scientists and more, this series sheds new light on what transpired. World’s Most Notorious Killers will also feature an exclusive interview with convicted murderer Charles Sobhraj, now released from prison.
Episodes
Each episode runs around 80 minutes. There is a total of 6 killers discussed in the 5 episodes. The format of each episode is various individuals involved with each case sharing information throughout the explanation and unfolding of each case.
Episode 1: The West Murders
Police in England looking for a missing girl discover a graveyard of bodies buried beneath a house.
Episode 2: The Vienna Strangler
Detectives in Los Angeles and Vienna hunt the world’s first transatlantic serial killer.
Episode 3: The Monster of Belgium
Belgian police are unsure whether they have caught a serial killer or unmasked a child sex ring.
Episode 4: The Murder Down Under
In 1982, Lynette Dawson, a loving wife and mother, disappears; a 40-year fight for justice ensues.
Episode 5: The Serpent
In the ’70s, tourists in Thailand are brutally killed; years later, the alleged murderer speaks out
My Thoughts
World’s Most Notorious Killers is easily binge worthy material. I definitely suggest that you don’t research the cases before you watch the series. I had little to no knowledge about these cases and it just made my watching experience that much better. The series held my interest. The episodes, both in length and content were near perfect. The last episode with the interview with Charles Sobhraj is eye opening. There are so many horrifying details in all these cases and it will leave you nothing short of stunned that all of these are real life cases.
My Final Thought
If you are a fan of true crime, World’s Most Notorious Killers will satisfy your thirst for another true crime docuseries. This series is worth a binge watch. All the episodes are available now streaming on Peacock.
