Have you been patiently waiting for a sequel to Zombieland? Impatiently, perhaps? If you’re one of the more impatient ones, then you need to calm down – it’s just a movie. For the rest of you, the wait is almost over. Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick – who also wrote the first Zombieland – spoke with Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg on AMC’s Geeking Out:
“That is breaking news that we’re on Zombieland 2 right now,” said Wernick and Reese. “We’re sitting with Woody [Harrelson] tomorrow and are going to sort of walk him through some of the stuff we want to do. All the cast is pretty excited.”
Arguably the most talked about scene in Zombieland is Bill Murray’s cameo. Wernick and Reese also discussed how his cameo came about. Originally, Patrick Swayze was set to play the doomed celebrity disguised as the living dead. Unfortunately, he fell ill and couldn’t do it. After several celebrities – including Kevin Bacon – passed on the role, Harrelson suggested Dustin Hoffman or Bill Murray. After Murray requested the script to be tweaked to include him more, Murray accepted the role. I’m sure the writers were happy with the end result, as was I and pretty much everyone else who saw it.
