After 2 Years of Waiting, Waxwork Comics Finally Unveils Premiere Issue!

Back in October of 2015, Waxwork Records revealed plans for a new business venture: Waxwork Comics. Here’s their official announcement.

Waxwork Records is thrilled to announce the launch of Waxwork Comics! The crew at Waxwork has worked tirelessly to assemble an outstanding team of the best writers and your favorite artists in an effort to form a new company specializing in a fresh take on the horror-inspired comic.

The press release told us to expect the first issue in the first quarter of 2016. Well, 2016 came and went with nothing. But now the wait is over! The premiere issue of House of Waxwork hits comic store shelves this week on July 7! Awesome news!

More from the Waxwork Records Press Release:

Presented by Waxwork ComicsHOUSE OF WAXWORK will be packed with horror, mystery, and sci-fi movie-inspired mayhem, and every installment will come with an exclusive 7” colored vinyl record not available anywhere else that will feature original soundtracks to that issue’s stories!

The first issue features artwork from Gabe Soria, Christian DiBari, Mike Spicer, Kevin Bergeron, Jonas Scharf, and Jordan Boyd. Christian DiBari was kind enough to post a preview of his work on his Twitter feed. Check it out! It’s really cool stuff!

You know Waxwork Records for their high quality vinyl releases. We at PopHorror are big fans! I expect their comics will rise to the same level of geeky-badassery. Some of the stories they’ve revealed for the debut anthology issue include Lighthouse Keeper and Occult Slumber Party. Each comic includes a digital music download code in addition to the colored vinyl. Sweet!

Blumhouse did an in-depth interview with Kevin Bergeron from Waxwork Records about the project back in 2015. It’s a good read and gives some great insights into the history behind this new comic line. You can really tell how excited they are about this project. It’s been a long time coming!

According to the Waxwork Comics Twitter feed, Issue #1 goes on sale Friday, July 7th. Unfortunately, they don’t say WHERE it’s on sale! Check out your local comic shop and keep your eyes on the Waxwork Records website. If your local shop doesn’t carry the comics, encourage them to e-mail sales@waxworkrecords.com.
