From the twisted mind of Connor Strader (Misfortune Teller, Black Magic) comes an all new short horror film with a “Go Green” message – Bag Man! Indie production company American Projects unveils an all-new slasher villain in the teaser trailer for their upcoming short film. Bag Man is set to release in August, 2017. Jared Morales (Director of Photography) and Garren Orr (Music) help round out the crew. Check out the teaser right here!
From the Press Release:
Logline: An ex-garbage man who kills people who don’t separate their recyclables.
Synopsis: Two friends face the wrath of a disgruntled ex-garbage man gone rogue, who stalks the night and vows to exterminate youths who fail to separate their trash and recyclables. The film is both a parody of the slasher genre and a celebration of it; poking fun at the genre’s conventions and clichés, while embracing them all at once. It’s a true love letter to the genre, presented from the warped perspective of its young filmmakers.
“Jason and Michael are silent, sleek killers. I pictured a killer who fashions his costume out of trash bags – the most noisy, light-reflecting material imaginable,” comments Strader, “give him a relatively harmless weapon made of recycled plastic and you have the ultimate anti-slasher.”
The movie stars Travis Lowe and Connor Strader. It features an original, John Carpenter-influenced score by Garren Orr, of the L.A. rock outfit Tennis System.
Sounds like fun!
Bag Man started on Indiegogo. The team raised more than $1000 to fund the production. Connor Strader’s previous short film Black Magic raised a budget of $3,500 via Kickstarter. The finished film was an official selection of the 2014 Famous Monsters of Filmland Film Festival, and can be viewed on Connor’s YouTube page alongside his other work.
