IFC Midnight held an official press screening for their latest film, The Wind, in New York City recently. The supernatural western had its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and went on to play a host of other festivals, including Fantastic Fest, Beyond Fest, Sitges, and Rotterdam. Hot on the heels of that festival run and this latest press event comes a new trailer and word of an official release date. I gotta tell you, it looks great!
Read on for all the details, but first check out the trailer!
The Wind Synopsis
An unseen evil haunts the homestead in this chilling, folkloric tale of madness, paranoia, and otherworldly terror. Lizzy is a tough, resourceful frontierswoman settling a remote stretch of land on the 19th-century American frontier. Isolated from civilization in a desolate wilderness where the wind never stops howling, she begins to sense a sinister presence that seems to be borne of the land itself, an overwhelming dread that her husband dismisses as superstition. When a newlywed couple arrives on a nearby homestead, their presence amplifies Lizzy’s fears, setting into motion a shocking chain of events.
Emma Tammi directed The Wind from a screenplay by Teresa Sutherland. It is her feature film directorial debut. The film stars Caitlin Gerard, Julia Goldani Telles, Miles Anderson, and Dylan McTee.
The Wind blows into theaters on April 5, 2019.
Damn, this looks great! A horror western? Sign me up! I love the genre, and there aren’t nearly enough films in it for my liking. This looks right up my alley.
