Several of my friends today have messaged me about a huge walkout that happened at Cannes. Apparently, it happened when audiences were watching a screening of IFC Films’ The House That Jack Built.
According to Bloody Disgusting, hundreds of people walked out. Describing it as vile, vomitive, and torturous. Honestly, that only makes me want to see it more… especially after seeing the new trailer that dropped today.
This brutal new film is directed by Lars von Trier with a cast starring Matt Dillon, Bruno Ganz, and Uma Thurman.
Official Synopsis for The House That Jack Built:
The story follows Jack, a highly intelligent serial killer over the course of 12 years and depicts the murders that truly develop Jack as a serial killer.
Honestly, when people complain about attending a brutal film from a director that is known to go the extreme I can’t help but roll my eyes. I mean, what did they expect? It’s about a serial killer. The same people, go to see a Harry Potter movie and then bitch about there being witchcraft. *FACEPALM*
Yes, it’s going to be gruesome and it’s not going to be a film meant for everyone. It will most likely be an acquired taste. Personally, I think it looks fucking awesome and I can’t wait to see it. Hopefully, other audiences will give it a chance.
What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to The House That Jack Built? Let us know what you think and make sure to check out the trailer!
I’ve never seen anything like this at a film festival. More than 100 people have walked out of Lars von Trier’s ‘The House That Jack Built,’ which depicts the mutilation of women and children. “It’s disgusting,” one woman said on her way out. #Cannes2018 pic.twitter.com/GsBGCoyHEG

Just left Lars Von Trier's The House that Jack Built.
Gross. Pretentious. Vomitive. Torturous. Pathetic. #Cannes2018— The Oscar Predictor (@OscarPredictor) May 14, 2018
why can’t Lars von Trier just make a normal fcking movie for once. pushing limits is one thing but he’s just a complete sadist expressing his narcissism and contempt for the world through his art.
