Swamp Thing

‘Swamp Thing’ (2019) Wraps Season 1, Releases Teaser

The live action Swamp Thing series will be here before you know it, and I, for one, am stoked! I loved the comics as a kid, and Wes Craven’s 1982 film version is a guilty pleasure of mine. You can imagine my excitement when I heard a series was in development with Executive Producers James Wan and Len Wiseman at the helm! Most excellent! The 10 episode series is coming very soon to D.C. Universe… the streaming service for all thing D.C. How soon?

Read on for the details! But first, watch the trailer!

Swamp Thing (2019) Synopsis

Swamp Thing centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane. When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

The series stars Crystal Reed, Andy Bean, Will Patton,  Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Henderson Wade, Kevin Durand and Leonardo Nam. The imposing and always awesome Derek Mears (Friday the 13th (2009) plays the creature!

Final Thoughts

Looks great! To be brutally honest, I’m kind of sad they’re putting this behind the pay wall. I may have to bite the bullet, though, and subscribe for a bit so I can check it out. I’ve also heard good things about Doom Patrol and Young Justice: Outsiders. As the catalog continues to grow, so will my interest in handing over the cash. My poor wallet!

What do you think? Are you excited for Swamp Thing? Do you have a D.C. Universe subscription? Tell us in the comments!
