Streaming Device Rakuten Viki Delivers Quality Asian Content and Spooky Thrills!

Halloween is right around the corner and although celebrations may look different this year, Rakuten Viki, the largest streaming service for Asian content, is making sure viewers still get to indulge in spooky thrills and chills. Scary movie fanatics know that when it comes to the genre, the U.S. can learn a thing or two about horror films from Asia, so leading into Halloween night, Rakuten Viki is hosting two horror watch parties, along with launching a robust collection of thriller titles.

On October 28th, viewers can join in on the scary fun with Rakuten Viki’s public watch party for The Wailing, which centers on a policeman who investigates a series of mysterious killings and illnesses in a remote Korean hamlet called Gokseong. Then on Halloween night, check out Rampant, a Korean thriller about the spread of a zombie plague. Any movie lover can participate for free just by logging onto Viki.com and clicking the title’s icon under the Watch Party banner on the homepage. You’ll be able to share in the scare with others in the Rakuten Viki community via chat and emojis.

If you can’t make it to one of the big watch parties, you might want to still cuddle up on the couch with the “Spooki Viki” Halloween collection, which will be available starting October 15th.  The line-up consists of over 40 Asian horror titles that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Some of the chilling titles included hit zombie thriller, Train to Busan, Tale of the Nine-Tailed, Search, Hotel Del Luna and much more. The Wailing

Watch Party Titles Include:

  • The Wailing (October 28th at 7pm PST) – The Wailing is a 2016 South Korean horror movie directed by Na Hong Jin, which follows a Japanese stranger (Kunimura Jun) as he arrives in a sleepy little South Korean village – and disturbing things start to happen. A policeman named Jong Goo (Kwak Do Won) is called in to investigate, as villagers begin to report sightings of a flesh-eating, red-eyed demon. Soon afterward, a strange and inexplicable sickness starts spreading among the village folk, and a series of murders begins.
  • Rampant (October 31 at 7pm PST) – Rampant is a 2018 South Korean period action zombie film directed by Kim Sung-hoon. The film features a clash between exiled prince Lee Chung (Hyun Bin) and the Joseon Minister of War Kim Ja-joon (Jang Dong-gun) with the backdrop of a spreading zombie plague.
