Stranger Things season 2 has finally been announced. Now that we’ve all come down from the utopian cloud of knowing season 2 is coming, we can relax a little bit while we surf the web looking for news. In fact, we have some news for you today that can get your imaginations running: new character announcements!
The Duffer brothers have confirmed that Stranger Things will expand outside of the small town of Hawkins, IN. The season 2 premiere won’t even take place there. More of the Upside Down will be explored, thanks to a bigger budget based on the success of season 1. Obviously, going outside of Hawkins would mean expanded cast. Now, we have names of three new characters; Max, Billy, and Roman. Roman may or may not be a recurring character, but the other two will series regulars. Max is a 13-year-old girl and Billy is a 17-year-old muscular guy described as the following per Inquistr:
“Billy is a super muscular, overconfident 17-year-old. He’s so captivating and edgy that there are rumors flying around that he killed someone at a school he attended in the past. Billy steals peoples’ girlfriends, is a drinking-game pro and drives a black Camaro. But his violent and unpredictable nature shows itself to those closest to him, especially ones that are younger than him.”
There isn’t much to go on with Roman. We only know that Max is literally a 13-year-old girl, but the title of the premiere episode hints at her character. It’s Mad Max, so maybe she is a bit crazy – or just a big Mel Gibson fan. If she is off the handle, then Brighton Sharbino (Lizzie, The Walking Dead) would be an exceptional choice. She’s only 14 in real life and is a wonderful young actress.
Billy, however, gives us something to get excited about. So who could play Billy? Chances are that the Duffers will cast a relatively unknown actor, like much of the young cast from season 1, but it’s possible that the popularity of the show could bring in a more well-known actor. Personally, I think Cody Christian (Theo, Teen Wolf) would make a great Billy. He has the look and the build for the description given by the Duffer brothers.
