Stranger Things Season 2! That’s all I really need to get your attention, right? I thought so. Mild spoilers below, so avoid reading this if you haven’t seen season 1 of Stranger Things. More importantly, if you haven’t seen it yet, what are you doing with your life?

No, Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed season 2 of the breakout hit Stranger Things yet. Everyone else involved has, though, including the shows creators, the Duffer brothers. In fact, the directors of the hit show have answered what many fans have been asking – will season 2 be a sequel or is the show an anthology series? The answer is… it’s a sequel! The next question that arises from this information is the fate of Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown. Is she alive? Well, the lack of a solid answer from co-creator Matt Duffer is definitely promising. Inquisitr has the scoop:
“Obviously something happened to her when she destroyed and killed that monster and we don’t know where she went,” he said of Eleven. “Hopper is left with this guilt because he sold her out. We wanted to leave it sort of mysterious exactly what he knows … Have there been sightings in the woods or is he hoping she’s out there or has he already made contact with her? We don’t answer any of that, but we like the idea of potentially putting her and Hopper together.”

Producer Shawn Levy says the rest of the cast isn’t going anywhere. The story is set to take place a year after the events of season 1 transpired. Levy explains that although they wanted to have season 2 take place immediately after the season 1 finale, it just wasn’t possible. “You have to jump a year. Because, like, Gaten [Dustin], his voice has already dropped quite a bit, to the point where we couldn’t even do ADR [automated dialogue replacement] with him. We had to pitch it way up. It’s dropped. He’s grown. As much as I would love to have it be Christmas right after that, it’s just not feasible, so we’re going to skip a year. They’ll be a year older, and all their changes they’re going through, we’ll take that into account and kind of work that into the show.” Levy also confirms season 2 will also explore Will Byers and the aftermath of being in the Upside Down for so long. We see that he apparently still has some connection to it, as he coughs up a slug and flashes back into the Upside Down for a brief moment in his bathroom.
Well there you have it, folks. Everyone but Netflix has confirmed season 2 of Stranger Things. Netflix is sure to announce the official confirmation with a release date very soon. Check back in with us at PopHorror for updates.
