Scream Factory Announces ‘Land of the Dead’ Collector’s Edition Blu Ray Release

The dead shall inherit the earth. Twelve years ago, George A. Romero gave us his fourth installment in the Dead franchise, Land of the Dead. This was, in my opinion, his last good film. Today, Scream Factory took to Facebook to announce their latest collectors edition Blu-ray.

Here is the official Press Release:

We’re thrilled to add another George A Romero film to our sinister roster this year in the form of LAND OF THE DEAD!

Project is still in progress but here’s what we can tell you so far:

– The Blu-ray release will be branded as a “Collector’s Edition” (of course!) that will come with a slipcover (guaranteed for three months after its original release date.)

– The newly-commissioned front-facing artwork you see pictured comes to us from The CRP Group (Rabid, Firestarter, Serial Mom). The reverse side of the wrap will showcase the original theatrical poster art design.

– Bonus features & specs are still in progress and will be announced sometime in Sept but we can confirm that this will be a 2-disc set and will include new extras plus the theatrical and unrated versions of the film.

– Official street date is 10/24/17. However, if you pre-order now directly from our website at you’ll get it two weeks earlier plus you’ll received a free 18” x 24” rolled poster of the newly-designed key art (while supplies last)!

Land of the Dead was written and directed by George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead), with makeup and effects done by KNB EFX. It stars John Leguizamo (Ice Age) as Cholo DeMora, Dennis Hopper (Blue Velvet, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) as Kaufman, Simon Baker (The Mentalist) as Riley Denbo, and Asia Argento (Mother of Tears) as Slack.

The synopsis: The living dead have overtaken humanity. The last remnants of the human race live inside a walled city as they come to grips with the situation. The wealthy live in sealed skyscrapers as the poor fend for themselves on the streets. Protecting them is an enormous tank called Dead Reckoning, controlled by a group of people led by Riley. But when Riley loses command of the tank to an insane man bent on destroying the city, he must save it from Dead Reckoning as those who walk beyond the walls of the city slowly develop new abilities and become a much greater threat to humankind.

Once again, it looks like my wallet is going to be hurting because I am definitely going to pre-order this. If you’ve never bought a collector’s edition from Scream Factory, I highly recommend it. Especially if you like collecting unique posters. What are your thoughts on this? Are you with me in pre-ordering Land of the Dead?
