We were super excited when we heard Alvin Schwartz’s 1981 book series, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, was being turned into a film. We’ve been following it since it was announced, and we’ve shared with you all the info we have come across. Psst… you can see the previous four teaser trailers here. Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark Synopsis
It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind. But seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time. Stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.
André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe 2016 – read our review here) directed Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water 2017 – read our review here), Dan and Kevin Hageman (The LEGO Movie 2014) and John August (Go 1999), while Feast‘s (2005 – read our review here) Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton co-wrote the screenplay.
The film stars Zoe Margaret Colletti (Rubicon 2010), Michael Garza (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2014), Austin Zajur (Fist Fight 2017), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad TV series) and IT: Chapter 1’s Javier Botet (read our interview with him here).
