RIP Carrie Fisher – A True Pop Culture Icon

Unfortunately, 2016 has been the year of the Grim Reaper. Every time we pop culture aficionados are ready to face the world again after mourning the loss of a celebrity, another one passes away. As most of you have already heard, the beautiful and incredibly talented Carrie Fisher passed away this morning, December 27th, at the age of 60. This is one of the most heartbreaking deaths this year and our heart goes out to all her family, friends, and fans.

Although she is most known most for her iconic role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, Carrie had a wonderful career in the film industry, including the horror genre. In honor of this legendary goddess, we look back at two of our favorite films that she took part in.

The Burbs (1989)

The Burbs is a fun horror comedy directed by Joe Dante starring Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher. Ray Peterson (Hanks) is determined to prove that his new neighbors are anything but ordinary. Mrs. Peterson (Carrie) and has to deal with all of his crazy antics. She was perfect in this role and we highly recommend this film to anyone!

Scream 3 (2000)

While doing some investigating in Scream 3, the Gale Weathers duo (Courteney Cox and Parker Posey) attempt to discover the truth about Sidney’s mother… guess who is there to help them? The one and only Carrie Fisher aka Bianca. A reference to her character looking like Carrie Fisher is made and the commentary is quite comical. Carrie is one of the best things about the third addition of the Scream franchise, even though her part was small.
