As you may have already heard, Blumhouse Productions announced that they will be adapting The Purge series into a TV show. What you may not have heard is that, instead of documenting Purge Day, The Purge TV series will be dealing with the other 364 days of the year leading up to the infamous day. The series, which will air on both USA and SyFy, will premiere in 2018, the same year that the next installment of the franchise will arrive.
Via Deadline, Jason Blum spilled some beans about The Purge at NBC Universal’s Monday upfront presentation, revealing that the series will open up “an entirely new chapter in America’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness,” one that will “reveal to the fans what happens during the other 364 days of the year and how that law affects people.”
James DeMonaco (creator of the franchise) is writing, directing and executive producing. Platinum Dunes and Sebastien K. Lemercier will also be executive producing the series.
This is a unique take on the franchise that has me curious about the TV series. Will you be joining me in watching The Purge when it airs? Or will you hide out and try to survive the day?
