EVERYONE gets a streaming service!” HBO has two and they’re developing a third one in partnership with WarnerMedia. That service is HBO Max and it’s coming in 2020. The folks behind HBO Max just announced a brand new show that will be of great interest to our readers. What is it? It’s a prequel to the 1998 cult hit Practical Magic, starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. It’s called Rules of Magic! What’s the story and what’s it all about?

Rules of Magic Synopsis
Based on the novels Rules of Magic and Practical Magic, by Alice Hoffman, the new television show will follow three siblings as they realize that they’re actually descended from witches. The sisters go on to accidentally kill men with their love, but their brother ends up on another path.
The three siblings are Franny, Jet, and Vincent Owens. The series is set in New York City in the 1960’s.
HBO Max plans to draw content HBO, TNT, TBS, truTV), Adult Swim, The CW, Crunchyroll, DC Entertainment, Looney Tunes, New Line Cinema, and more. We previously brought you news of the Gremlins Animated Series. Rules of Magic is the latest original content announced.
Final Thoughts
So far this is just a pilot order. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open and let you know if they order a full season run. Is this a sign HBO Max intends to build its foundation on horror and genre-tainment? We can hope! I guess will find out in just a few short months!
