The 20th anniversary of Planet Comicon was a few weeks ago in Kansas City, MO and the convention and attendees pulled out all of the stops in their content and cosplays. There was so much to see at this year’s con, like a mini Princess Bride reunion, the voices of our favorite cowboys, podcasts, a talk with Lucifer himself and more. We got the chance to go to Planet Comicon on the busiest day of the convention, and we had a hell of a time. Check out our video below of us making our way through the very crowded con, and then keep reading for some of our favorite cosplays. Also, don’t judge me if I don’t know what all of the cosplays are. Onward, adventurer!
We had the opportunity to sit in on an amazing panel and a Q&A with one of the coolest people on the planet. Mr. Mark Pellegrino, AKA Supernatural’s Lucifer.

The highlight of Planet Comicon was listening to Mark talk. He is such a funny and intelligent person, and it was so very interesting to see the man behind the character. He touched upon suicide and how it hit close to home for him, on individuality and even religion. He was so entertaining, and if he is at a con near you, GO TO HIS Q&A!

We also got a seat for the Red Dead Redemption 2 (read our review of the game here) panel, where we got to hear from voice actors Rob Weithoff (John Marston) and Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan). I have to tell you, it is really weird to hear real people talk in the voice of two of my favorite characters. Clark was raised in Ireland, so you can feel a bit of separation from the character, but Weithoff sounds just like Marston on a regular day, so it was bizarre. Turns out that Weithoff has never really played any of the Red Dead games because he finds it awkward to play a character with his voice, and his wife thinks he’s yelling in the other room. However, Clark was a fan of Red Dead before he even knew what he was auditioning for.
There SO many amazing cosplayers, simple and elaborate, at Planet Comicon 2019 that there was no way to include them all, but here were some of our favorites!

I love any and all Fallout cosplay, and this Nuka-Cola girl and vault dweller look amazing! I give these cosplayers two thumbs up.

This martian girl cosplay from the movie Mars Attacks! is PHENOMENAL. I love that movie so much, and I love this cosplay even more.

Would this be an article by me if I DIDN’T include some Resident Evil cosplay? Here we have the lovely Ada Wong and her fellow game-world, tomb-raiding compatriot, Lara Croft. These ladies did an amazing job.

Here we have a fabulous Ursula stalking the halls for her next poor unfortunate to help, yes indeed. But where’s Ariel?
There she is! She looks like a warrior princess with her Prince Eric, and she is ready to fight should Ursula come calling.

Please correct me in the comments if I am wrong, but this totally looks like an orc from Warcraft (or WoW). If it isn’t, let me know where it’s from!

I am pretty sure I saw Princess Peach and her piranha plant last year, too! I love the hand-puppet addition. It adds just a little something extra.

Look at these anime cuties! I will be honest and say I have no idea what shows these ladies are from, but if you do know, let me know in the comments!

My son is obsessed with Teen Titans, so I am extremely aware who these characters are. I love this cosplay of Raven and Beast Boy.

I may or may not have nerded out hard when I saw this group of Monty Python and the Holy Grail cosplayers. Unfortunately, King Arthur kept hiding behind the Black Knight, so you can’t see him that well, but the Knight Who Says Ni is killing it. Ni!

“In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.” You gotta love the simplicity of this Lovecraftian Cthulhu cosplay.

I loved this Sam cosplay. There wasn’t much in the way of horror characters at Planet Comicon, but I caught pictures of the ones I did find!

Mickey Mouse is a character that’s not too surprising, but it wasn’t the costume that caught my eye. The personality of this Planet Comicon patron was huge, and he was awesome to take pictures of.

This Dragonball Z Android 16 cosplay was WICKED. Do a side-by-side and see how good is it. Go on. I’ll wait.

The Dude showed up to Planet Comicon. I have to say, this has got to be the most comfortable cosplay in all the land.

Here we have Howl and Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle. These two are fire enough to burn all of your bacon. They were the only Ghibli characters that I saw throughout the day.

This was a character that made me SUPER happy. Final Fantasy XV is one of my most favorite games, and Ignis is my favorite character, so I loved seeing him come up with a new recipe live and in person!

This fine group of men is the from the band, They Watch Us From The Moon. It is missing one band member, but she was lost among the masses at the con. You may recognize the face of Zack Kauffman from Atomic Cotton in there. We will be doing a WHOLE article on They Watch Us From The Moon, so keep an eye out for that!

Here we have some bitchin’ Bulma and Master Roshi cosplay from Dragonball Z. These two were AWESOME, but I can’t imagine walking that con in those heals. I am feeling sympathy pain right now.

I am digging this Kingdom Hearts cosplay. I haven’t played KH myself, but one of our writers, Matt Stumpf, is a huge fan, and he would appreciate these characters for sure.

I legitimately chased these two down because I loved their outfits so much. They looked awesome and I love when couples match.

Just because a character isn’t complicated, doesn’t mean the cosplay isn’t awesome. This lady kills it as Velma, and I can imagine she was one of the most comfortable attendees in that outfit.

As a Potterhead (and a Ravenclaw), I absolutely love this costume, but I am almost 100% sure I saw this man and his wandering eye last year, and it is just as awesome this year.

Here we find a Twisty the Clown stalking Planet Comicon. What I didn’t notice were two of the Sanderson sisters hanging out behind him.

I had stopped Sally, Jack and Oogie Boogie for a picture when all of a sudden, Ron Burgundy photobombs and it was too good not to include. He was spot on in character, too.

This was the best Jon Snow I have ever seen outside of the actual Jon Snow. Not only that, he was super sweet, but he doesn’t have an Instagram, which is bananas.

It’s always nice to see a friendly face when you are out and about at Planet Comicon.

Predator is one of my favorite movies, so as soon as I saw this guy, I knew I had to snag a picture of him. He looks SO cool, and even the kid looks intimidated.

In our 2018 best games roundup article, I named God of War as my choice for game of the year, and it even won during the Video Game Awards last year. It only makes sense that we would have to catch a Kratos in action.

Her outfit is AWESOME! Now, I am not sure where she is from, although I get a Skyrim, Warcraft vibe, but she looks amazing and I was so impressed.

I’m going to say… Ghost Rider? He looked wicked, that’s for sure.

This Lumpy Space Princess and I bonded over our similar body shapes.

I saw many Planet of the Apes cosplayers at Planet Comicon but this one was my favorite. Even the guy in the back is stunned by his beauty.

This is a practical Pennywise cosplay. Her outfit is both cute and extremely unsettling.

I couldn’t help myself. Fallout is on of my favorite game franchises, and I wanted to pose and mean mug the camera alongside this amazing power armor. Now, I want one. Also, the shirt is from our Clay Graham Art unboxing!

With the release of the wildly successful Resident Evil 2 remake, this old school RE4 Leon cosplay is rockin’.

To end our cosplay favorites at Planet Comicon 2019, we have John Hammond, complete with his amber tipped cane.
That was amazing event and they did a great job for their 20th anniversary. I can’t wait to see what they get for Planet Comicon 2020. All photos and video were taken by Between Two Forks.
