James Cameron has been busy lately. When he’s not talking smack about Wonder Woman, he’s been working on the first of FOUR Avatar sequels set to release between 2020 and 2025. I bet he’s forgotten all about his humble beginnings. Lucky for us, Scream Factory hasn’t forgotten. Look what’s swimming to Blu-ray in 2018. Piranha II: The Spawning Blu-ray Details
• This will be branded as a “Collector’s Edition” that will come with a slipcover (guaranteed for three months after its original release date).
• We are implementing a change of our normal practice regarding the artwork strategy on this one. Normally we would commission a new illustrated piece and then provide the original theatrical poster on the reverse.
In this case, the already-existing illustrated international key art that you see featured here (which was also used for the domestic VHS release) was so pitch perfect and iconic to the film that we felt it would be a challenge to try to improve upon so we made an exception here. Plus, the theatrical U.S. poster also had a cool design that we wanted to use as well somehow.

Scream Factory is working out the details on the full specs. We’ll bring you more details as we get them. They did confirm, however, they are doing a brand new HD film transfer (finally presented in its proper aspect ratio). Content wise, this is the uncut version from the previous DVD release.

The collector’s edition Blu-ray releases on January 30, 2018.
