When was the last time your television was overrun by giant ants? It might have been in 1954 when the radioactive creature feature Them! first premiered. Or maybe it was two decades later when you caught Empire of the Ants in 1977. But maybe, just maybe, your first interaction with giant ants came in 1989 when Cinemaware Games released It Came From the Desert, an action-adventure game inspired by those glorious B movies from the 1950s. Now in 2017, those giant ants are back again in a film version of It Came From the Desert, and this time, we also get some Mototcross Madness mixed in for good measure. PopHorror gout our grubby little hands on some brand new posters from the film. Check them out!
Directed by War of the Dead’s Marko Mäkilaakso (read our interview with him here), It Came From the Desert was co-written by Mäkilaakso, 68 Kill’s Trent Haaga (read our interview with him here) and Hank Woon, Jr. (Age of Dinosaurs 2013). The film stars Vanessa Grasse (Leatherface 2017), Mark Arnold (Teen Wolf 1985) and Harry Lister Smith (War and Peace 2016).
Here’s the synopsis, at least so far:
It Came From the Desert is a motocross action film with giant ants. The film is inspired by a cult video game from ’80s made by Cinemaware.
