It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything new about Zombieland 2, or, as it is officially titled: Zombieland: Double Tap, which is releasing this fall. I don’t know about you, but I am SUPER excited about the sequel. October can’t get here soon enough! In the past six months or so since our original announcement, only a few new nuggets of info have released,. So what do we know so far?
Read on for the details! But first, get hyped watching the original Zombieland trailer! Sadly, we don’t have the trailer for the new film… yet. Soon!
Zombieland: Double Tap Synopsis
Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock move to the American heartland as they face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors, and the growing pains of the snarky makeshift family.
Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin are all returning for the sequel. The same goes for original director, Ruben Fleischer, and the writing team of Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who are also serving as executive producers.
Look how well the gang has aged between 2009 and 2019 in this studio teaser photo. Talk about winning the 10 year challenge (remember that?)!
Other Things We Know About Zombieland: Double Tap (*Mild Spoilers*)
Joining the cast this time out are Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutsch, Luke Wilson, and Dan Aykroyd. Deutch will be a love interest for Eisenberg’s character. Her name? “Madison.” Wisconsin, maybe? According to IMDb, Bill Murray is also somehow back? When last we saw Bill, he, uh…wasn’t doing so well. I’ll be interested to see how they fit him in to the sequel.
Other nuggets from IMDb include a credit for a T-800 Zombie (I’ll be back!) and a White House Zombie. I guess the gang is heading to D.C.? In an interview, Jesse Eisenberg made it sound like they might be living at the White House! Crazy!
We don’t have a trailer yet, but here are a few photos I found from the set of the new shoot.
Zombieland: Double Tap was originally slated to release on October 11, 2019. That is exactly 10 years out from the original Zombieland release. However, news broke this week the film has been pushed back. Don’t worry, though. Just a week. New release date: October 18, 2019!
I’m excited. You’re excited. We’re ALL excited! I can’t believe it’s been 10 years. I’m glad the cast and crew are all back, and I hope they knock it out of the park.
Don’t forget to update your calendars with the new release date. Will we see you in line on October 18? Tell us in the comments!
