‘Garden Party Massacre’ (2018) Layers of Fantastic Cheesy Goodness

One of my most anticipated indie horror films this year was Garden Party Massacre. It looked super fun and has a great cast. Plus, I love any type of slasher film, so I figured I was in for a good time. Did it deliver the goods?

This horror comedy was directed and written by Gregory Blair. Along with Blair, the film stars Andy Gates, Nichole Bagby, David Leeper, Dawna Lee Heising, Matt Weinglass, and Lise Hart.

Garden Party Massacre

Official Synopsis for Garden Party Massacre:

A gathering of friends goes awry when an uninvited guest appears. With a pickax and attitude. I mean, what could go wrong?

Garden Party Massacre is layered with fantastic cheesy horror goodness that I think fans of the genre will enjoy. It’s a ridiculously fun story with super silly characters and will continue to surprise you throughout its runtime.

I love the story. It’s always awesome when something as normal as a gathering of friends in the backyard for a tasty BBQ goes awry. Watch out the for the BBQ sauce though, it may just be blood or worse.

The characters were super ridiculous but enjoyable. You definitely can’t deny they had personality. Gregory Blair’s character was over the top, but obnoxiously lovable. It’s like he had a 5 second delay to what was going on around him. My other two favorite characters were Wesley (David Leeper) and Reena (Lise Hart). I thought they both carried the story along with their awkward mannerisms and slapstick reactions to everything going on.

The film is packed full of twists and turns that you won’t see coming. Or at least I didn’t. As the story continues, the cheese gets thicker and crazier but that’s okay. It’s super cheesy and it knows it is.

Final Thoughts:

If you love your films with extra spunk, layers of cheese, and twists galore… you’ll love Garden Party Massacre. I dig Gregory Blair’s style and can’t wait to see what he does next. This film has recently landed distribution with SGL Entertainment and will be released only on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital platforms in late 2018.
