Saw fans have been chomping at the bit to get more info on the upcoming sequel Jigsaw. Although the infamous Jigsaw Killer has been dead in the ground for over a decade, there have been new murders that are all too familiar – and all too sadistic – to be committed by just anyone. Today the trailer for the newest film has dropped, and PopHorror managed to get our hands on it! Check it out!
The official synopsis:
Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade.
Jigsaw is the newest installment in the franchise and is the eighth film so far, and will be directed by German natives Michael and Peter Spierig (Daybreakers 2009). The Spierig brothers are taking the reigns from Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw 3D. Writers Pete Goldfinger (Piranha 3D 2010) and Josh Stolberg (Sorority Row 2009) have replaced Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the men behind the scripts from the last four Saw entries. The original characters were imagined by Leigh Whannell and James Wan, the creators of the Insidious franchise. The cast list includes Mandela Van Peebles (Root TV miniseries), Laura Vandervoort (Supergirl TV series), Brittany Allen (It Stains the Sands Red 2016), and Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica TV series).
Originally called Saw: Legacy, Jigsaw will hit theaters on October 27th… the Friday before Halloween, just like every other installment.
