What’s all this about a birthday?

Perhaps best known as Dr. Herbert West in the H.P. Lovecraft classic RE-ANIMATOR, Jeffrey Combs has been a mainstay in film and on television for more than 30 years.

“I gravitated to acting out of a mixture of instinct, naivete, and opportunity.” ~ Jeffrey Combs

Jeffrey’s status as a modern day Vincent Price began in 1983 as “Stu” in FRIGHTMARE  his first horror role.  Two years later, Combs joined forces with Director Stuart Gordon to make RE-ANIMATOR (1985).  It was the first of more than a dozen film projects the duo would complete together.

In the years that followed, Combs would reprise his most memorable role twice more.  Dr. Herbert West returned, first in BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR (1989), then again in BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR (2003).  Both times, Stuart Gordon sat in the Director’s chair.

As Jeffrey became a horror film mainstay in the 80’s and 90’s, he also made guest appearances on a variety of television shows including Hunter, Jake and the Fat Man, The Flash (1991) and Freddy’s Nightmares.

“I always try to make my characters people, and yet I always want to entertain.” ~ Jeffrey Combs

Of all his television roles, Combs is probably remembered most for portraying several characters in nearly 50 episodes of STAR TREK over the course of three different STAR TREK series.

His portrayal of the Dominion Ambassador Weyoun on DEEP SPACE NINE, in particular, earned him numerous accolades, including an OFTA Television Award for Best Guest Actor in 1999 from the Online Film & Television Association.

Combs has twice been nominated for Saturn Awards by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films for BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR(1989) and THE FRIGHTENERS(1996).  He was inducted into the Phoenix International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival Hall of Fame in 2008
