See anyone you recognize in the trailer for the new indie horror flick #FromJennifer? I, for one, was totally pumped when I realized that both Derek Mears (Jason from the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot) and Tony Todd (the one and only Candyman) were starring in director Frank Merle’s (Carnage on Graves Farm 2009) newest project. Check out the poster… I’m getting a pretty strong Little Red Riding Hood vibe. How about you?
#FromJennifer follows a struggling actress named Jennifer (Danielle Taddei: Swimming 2006) who gets dropped by her manager (Todd) for not having a strong enough social media presence. Poor Jennifer loses her marbles and recruits Butch Valentine (Mears) to help her get revenge on those she feels have wronged her. Not only does she carry out her vengeance in a bloody, ax-heavy way, but she also films every bit of it to share with her Twitter followers in an effort to up her internet fame.
The film also stars Meghan Deanna Smith (Sharknado: Heart of Sharkness 2015) and Aaron Abrams (Hannibal TV series) and was created around characters originally written by James Cullen Bresseck (Blood Lake: Attack of the Lamprey 2014) and Frank Merle.
#FromJennifer is actually the third film in a series that started with To Jennifer (directed by Bressack) and continued with 2 Jennifer (directed by Hunter Johnson: 60 Seconds to Die 2016). Although the storylines of the three films are not linked, they all follow the same themes of surveillance and obsession. The first two films were shot entirely on iPhones, while #FromJennifer was filmed using several GoPro cameras.
#FromJennifer is currently in post-production and will debut sometime this spring via Sector 5 Films and Lone Morsel Productions, following 2 Jennifer, which was released just recently on VOD and DVD. So if you’re in the mood for some bloody, gory fun, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for #FromJennifer!
